BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM:

A quintessential trek for trekkers, the Hampta Pass trek is tailor made for those looking to experience the Himalayan adventures! The easiest access point for this trek is in Manali at an altitude of 14,100 ft, unlike most treks that start from a remote village.

Hampta Pass trekking is appealing mostly due to the fact that it connects the beautiful valleys of Kullu and Lahaul. The awe-inspiring landscapes and natural foliage of the region itself draws trekkers a plenty, not to mention the abundance of rare Himalayan birds and orchids spotted here.

Flourished with thick alpine forests, sprawling meadows, glacial valleys, this trek packs the punch of an idyllic adventure in the Himalayas. Another exemplary feature is the passage through the captivating famous Atal Tunnel and is enveloped in snow throughout the year, the best time to visit is in August to September.

The trail crosses the small villages of Hampta and Sethan. Hampta pass offers a magnificent view of DeoTibaa 19683 ft and Indrasan peak 20404 ft.

The program also includes visit to Chandertal, a crescent shaped lake from which it’s named derived (Moon like lake). It is situated at an altitude of approx. 14,100 ft. The surrounding of the lake consist of Mountain scree on one side and a Cirque on the other, the lake itself is a part of a beautiful on which Various varieties of wild flowers can be seen during spring season.

DAY WISE SCHEDULE:

Day 1. Reporting at 15-mile Base camp

Day 2. Acclimatization, Orientation and Training

Day 3. After Breakfast move to Jobra (Last Road head) by Vehicle & start the trek to Chikka - 4 km, 3 to 4 hrs

Day 4. Trek Chikka to Balu ka Gera by trek - 8 km, 5 to 6 hrs

Day 5. trek Balu ka Gera to shea-goru via Hampta pass - 10 km, 8 to 9 hrs

Day 6. Shea-goru to Chhatru - 5 km, 3 to 4 hrs

Day 7. Chatru to Chandra tall by Vehicle and return back Chhatru camp, after Hot lunch move to 15-mile Base camp via famous Atal tanal

Day 8. Check-out after breakfast

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE? The minimum age for a member to join the program is 18 years to 60 Years, YHAI membership is mandatory to participate. This condition will be adhered to strictly. Under age and above age will not be considered.

HOW TO REACH THE BASE CAMP

Base Camp 15 Miles, near Span Resort, next to kullu valley Hospital.

Regular bus services are available for Manali, from Delhi, Chandigarh & Punjab. Every bus from Kullu to Manali is passed our base camp from 15 Miles. The nearest Railway Stations is Ambala & Chandigarh and the nearest Airport is Bhuntar

HOW TO JOIN:
Offline Booking: Members desirous of joining this programme may also apply on the prescribed "Trekking Registration Form" duly supported by a "Trekking Medical Certificate", along with a DD of requisite amount of Rs.9000/-per head in favour of “Youth Hostels Association of India” payable at New Delhi.

Note: Seat once booked may not be re-scheduled or transferred. Medical certificate will be submitted at Base camp (medical certificate will be valid only for 30 days for the date of issuing).

YHAI membership card or Receipt of payment for membership fees and Admit card, original Medical Certificate & two Passport size photographs is must to enter into the Base Camp. Without these documents participating members will not be allowed at Base Camp.

*Special Casual leave: The Trekking Expedition organized by Youth Hostels Association of India have the approval of Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions (Dept. of Personnel And Training), Government of India, vide Office Order no. 28016/3/89-Estt (A), Dated 25 October, 1989. Participants working in the Central Govt. Organization can apply to the authorities concerned for availing special casual leave for the duration of the expedition. This leave can be sanctioned by their office up to 30 days in calendar year.

* Certificates: Participants, who successfully complete the trekking and abide by the discipline of the program, will be awarded certificates.

*Justice TPS Chawla Scholarship for underprivileged Girls: YHAI announced Justice T.P.S. Chawla Memorial Adventure Scholarship for underprivileged girls for participation in YHAI adventure activities. Girls whose family income is less than Rs.100000/- p.a. can avail this scholarship. Applicant has to submit the salary certificate of their parents. In case of Business, she has to submit their income on an affidavit. Deserving participants may apply to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document / certificates.

*Off the beaten Siddharth Scholarship for underprivileged Young Men & Women :YHAI announced 50% Off the Beaten Track Siddharth Scholarship of the program fee to provide underprivileged Young Men & Women less than 30 years of age with an opportunity to participate in outdoor adventure activities/ programs by YHAI in various parts of the country. Underprivileged Young Men & Women whose family income is less than Rs. 250000/- p.a can avail this scholarship by applying to the National Office YHAI supported by relevant document/ certificates through their respective State Branch.

Accommodation Facilities: Tented accommodation (ON SHARING BASIS), concrete toilet cum bathroom facility at the base camp.

FOOD WATER SUPPLIES: Nutritious vegetarian meals will be provided. R.O water available at base camp.

MANDATORY: Trekking Medical Certificate original will be compulsory at the time of reporting only (with 30 days of validity) duly signed by registered Medical Practitioner (MBBS / MD only) along with his registration number and stamp.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BRING ALONG: Rucksack (if You have one), Woolens, Cotton Shirts, Slacks, Cotton Pants, Sun Cap, Shoes, Socks 4pr, Enameled or Steel Mug / tumbler, Plate, Lunch box ,Spoon, Water purifying tablets, Pen knife, Needle, Thread, Spare buttons, Goggles, Cold cream / Vaseline, Soap, Toilet Paper, Towel, Rain sheet, Medicines (As per your personal requirement, which you regularly use at home and Crepe Bandage 4in*1, Micropore tape 1/2inch*1, Band-Aids, Cough lozenges/ Kanthil or other, Vicks Vaporous, Colerain, Clortrimazole cream and powder, Paracetamol*10 Mupirocin cream, Diclofenac gel, Lopamide*10, Azithromycin and Electoral), Camera with extra batteries.

SAFETY & SECURITY: Extensive and painstaking preparations have gone into the planning of trekking routed for your safety. Our field staff and experienced camp leaders have been visiting the area to check all details. While every care has been taken to ensure safety, the Youth Hostels Association of India cannot be held responsible for any accident, illness and such other unforeseen eventualities.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

1.Smoking, use of alcohol and narcotics of any description is strictly prohibited during the course of the program.

2.Stay other than YHAI Camp is not allowed for the entire duration of the camp.

3.This is an environment friendly trek. Do no litter any wrappers or spoil the trial in any way. In case you find any wrapper, plastic bag or anything left by trekkers on the way, please carry the same with you and deposit at the base camp.

4.Burning of wood during camp fire is strictly prohibited. Import of any bio Non- degradable Material in Himachal Pradesh is an offence
